If you're considering refurbishing your kitchen cabinets and you would like to give them a rustic, antique look, watch this tutorial to find out which products are best and how to apply them!

In this video tutorial company co-founder, Rosanne will tell you all about which products to choose to give your next kitchen cabinetry an antique look!

This tutorial is applicable to any high-traffic project you might be working on, be it kitchen cabinets or dining table tops, for example.

There are two products in the Country Chic Paint line that are designed to give your piece an antique look: Glaze and Antiquing Wax. Both have similar effects, but each have unique looks and application methods. For certain projects, one may be a better choice than the other.

We always recommend sealing high-traffic furniture pieces with Clear Coat for optimal durability. Since Clear Coat is water-based, and oil and water don’t mix, it cannot be applied on top of any oily products like wax. If you plan on sealing your piece with Clear Coat, Glaze is the product you should use to add age and depth to the finish. That’s why in this tutorial, Rosanne will be showing you how to glaze your kitchen cabinets!

Apply any color of Country Chic Paint to your piece and distress as desired. For more details on how to prepare and paint your cabinets, see our kitchen cabinet painting tutorial. Make sure you wait 24 hours before moving on to the next step.

Step 2) Shake and stir your glaze

Before opening the jar, give it a good shake. Once you’ve opened the jar, use a stir stick to stir it for about a minute. You want to make sure the ingredients are very well combined!

Step 3) Apply the glaze

Use a synthetic-bristle paint brush to apply the glaze, then remove the excess with a slightly damp, lint-free rag. Keep in mind that the glaze dries quite quickly so you should work in small sections to avoid streaking. Don’t try to tackle more than one cabinet door at a time. Step 4) Seal with Clear Coat
