This is Why it’s Important to Prep Your Furniture for Paint & to Use Quality Products!
When Abbey from Painted Home Goods found this tallboy dresser, it had been improperly refinished with all the wrong products. Find out how she saved it with a durable and beautiful new coat of paint!
It was love at first sight with this dresser. Though it was in good condition, it was painted with gunky blue paint and the knobs didn’t match the vintage style at all.
When I started sanding, the old paint came right off. This is what happens when pieces aren’t prepped properly and the right products aren’t used. It is worth your time and effort to invest in good furniture paint, like Country Chic Paint products.
I wanted a greige neutral color, but I didn’t have enough left of my go-to Country Chic Paint colors, so I mixed a few together! I mixed Soirée, Lazy Linen, and a pinch of a Pebble Beach/Driftwood mixture from a previous project. The result was just what I wanted.
Finished with a stained top and cream ceramic knobs, this beauty has all the vintage charm it was missing before.

Abbey {Painted Home Goods}
As a mom to twin boys, I am always busy. Twice the fun, twice the work! My Twin Tornadoes and salvaging neglected furniture are my passions. If a twin mom in a small apartment can fix up and paint furniture, so can you! In today’s throw-away culture and tendency towards cheaply made, mass produced home goods, I seek to provide something different, something unique. Bringing new life to discarded finds is my way of contributing to the responsible thrifting counterculture. When shopping with PaintedHomeGoods you can feel good about what you buy. Enjoy!
